Flowers Guide by Names and Colors

Stop! before you make the decision to go with red roses or white hydrangeas, read this post. There are over 400,000 different type of plants. That's a wide choice. This is harder than choosing a new pair of shoes. And there's a lot to consider, from prices to colors to season. This is why consulting with a planner and florist is the way to go. I rely a lot on my florists to help me with any centerpieces or flowers that I may need for an event.

The good news is, you can't never go wrong with hydrangeas in my opinion because of their shapes and wide range of colors. I love a puffy arrangement in the middle of a table sitting in a tall vase. But just know, there are other ways to go. Come in Hayley's blog, her post about flowers is one of the best I've seen. She wrote,

"Here is a collection of flower names sorted by color."

A great collection. You might want to save this post for later, or better yet, follow by email.

As I said before, I am not a fan of roses. I think they get pricey because they are suppose to represent romance and it's outdated in my opinion. If your theme is old Hollywood, then I can see you having roses, but I really think there are better prices.

I don't remember how I landed on this site but I'm sure glad I did. They literally break down flowers by colors and species.

See these two pictures on this post, that's just part of what they have going on. I actually saved each pictures. I've dealt with clients whom are more visual and need to see a picture, so this eliminates my typing flowers into the Google search toolbar.

These two shades also represents two of the colors in Pantone's color forecast for 2016. See my post on The Top Ten Hottest Colors for 2016, HERE.

If you're looking at this post and saying to yourself, I like things simple and not so loud, you can still have simplicity with more tone-down shades,

Remember flowers are seasonal and at times regional plants. Some bloom only in spring, some late springs to early summers like Peonies. If you insist on having them in your winter nuptials, you will pay extra for that.

Silk flowers come ins in array of colors too. But what I like with real flowers, you can used them as party favors at the end of the day. It's so funny watching adults racing to grab centerpieces. The last wedding we did, the husband and uncle was guarding a hydrangea and blue orchids prize as the wife used the rest room. Don't forget to remind your guests that the vases are not part of the gifts (lol).

Flowers are not just for centerpieces, used them as add-ons to a setting, bouquets or aisle decorations.

So, follow your instincts and talk to your planner and you can't go wrong. Check out Hayley's full post HERE, and tell her I sent you.
