Homemade Stir-fry Rice with Honey Wings

Honey wings, stir-fry rice, chinese food, wings recipe, recipe, foodpics, eventsojudith

The other day I was having a Chinese food craving, but since I started my so-called "healthy eating." I wasn't about to go order any fried rice and wings. So, that's when my sister and I decided to make our own.

Funny story, I posted this same picture in this food group on Facebook, "Homemade Chicken Stir Fried Rice with Honey Wings," and I was accused of faking my dinner.
The comment read, "I know china wok rice when I see it." Of course, been who I am, I simply responded by posting the pots with the rice still cooking with the title, "like I said homemade."' After that brief "online debate," I got so many positive feedback and request for a recipe, I figured I'd share it here with you guys, and don't forget to share it, copy it and save it.

Now before we dive into this recipe, there's something about my family you should know, actually most Haitians, WE DON'T MEASURE! We go strictly by instincts. I know most recipes calls for a measurement of this and that, but old school cooking, we use our senses. I remember I was teaching a friend once how to make rice and peas, and she kept asking how much of this, how many of that, and my answers were always the same, TASTE IT. And really isn't that what cooking is really about? Start with the same amount of each and taste and figure out which should be augmented and use lots of common sense. Prime example, you know scotch bonnets are hot, so before you start slicing and adding to your meat recipe, cut a small slice and see how that works out. So I'll do my best but, seriously people JUST taste and go and use those senses.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of Wings
  • Complete Seasoning
  • Black Pepper
  • 1 Pack of Goya Powder Chicken Bouillon
(sauce)
  • 1/2 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 cup of Honey
  • 1 tbsp Butter

Instructions:

Seasoned you wings with complete seasoning, Goya powder, dash of black pepper and onion powder over your wings. Let it sit for 5 minutes while you prepared your deep frying pan. As a healthy alternative, you can bake the wings instead of frying them.

In a bowl mix (this depends how much sauce you want to make), add your honey, garlic & onion powder, soy sauce and butter. As caution, don't over do it on the soy sauce or you'll have one salty mess on your hand. If you want take it out completely or use Tamari sauce instead, but keep it low. Heat all until melted completely with a smooth consistency. Don't overheat then it will cool off too fast and difficult to work with.

Once your wings are ready, whether fried or baked, in a large bowl, toss your wings in your honey sauce and Voila! Honey Wings.

Hosting a party, make some plain wings for those not-so-sweet guests (haha). By the way football season is around the corner, perfect if you're hosting a watch party.

I know, I know I did not forget about the stir-fry rice. I actually posted this recipe before. The recipe below is for a shrimp stir-fry rice, substitute shrimp with diced chicken breast for a tasty result. See the full report, HERE.
